The Cubical House in Mondsee/Irrsee

The unique architecture of a newly erected house in Mondsee/Irrsee sets it apart from all other modern structures, making it the only one of its kind in the world.

This project is living proof that modern structures can also exist in harmony with nature, even though a farmhouse was built in the direct vicinity

The idea to construct a cubical house overlooking Lake Irrsee is partly the result of the surrounding landscape; the steep incline of the eastern slope Mt. Kolomann required the construction of a massive concrete retaining wall, so the cubical design was conceived to harmonize with this necessity.  The rooms and terraces were laid out to allow a superlative view of Lake Mondsee and Lake Irrsee.  Large windows further supported the unhindered view of both lakes.  Solar panels and external blinds insure energy efficiency.  High, vaulted ceilings, numerous terraces with splendid views and the harmonization with the steep incline of the mountain are just a few of the advantages of the cubical construction.  The construction phase lasted one and a half years.
